There is a slight difference with CYMI, they do have potential competitors and they do have customers who would like second suppliers based on conversations with those that attended SPIE functions. The good news is that Lamda fell down since they provided poor service ( hey what was a day or two of downtime) and CYMI was an upset with attention to service. I hope they remember what helped them grow market share- it was good service!
Other factoids from SPIE:
1) Laser replacement cost is 50K$/3mos which is twice what customers are used to from I line Hg bulbs
2) New higher power 248 laser is 2x price but only 20% more stepper thruput (because of overhead) so customers think new price is unfair.
3) Users think lasers should last 6mos.
4) All laser suppliers were around stepper suppliers.
5) In spite of above, CYMI is personally liked (to a limit!)
6) And as I previously posted, 248nm light will be around to below 150nm design rules.
Still long and above water!
