Arnie:
Just received a fax from Nextel with a special offer on the i600 phones and a new service package. Here it is: currently, I am paying 145.00 per month for each unit which includes 300 minutes of cell time, and 250 minutes of direct time, with the direct time minutes transferreable between units. The new package is for 89.95 per month which includes 700 minutes cell time, and unlimited direct time. Both packages include the other features, voice mail etc. To be eligible for this plan, it requires all units in your account to be switched over to the new plan and it also requires that the customer enter into an agreement with Nextel for a period expiring on 2/28/99. To cancel service on or all units will result in a penalty of $250.00 per unit. Our current average cost per unit is approximately 150.00. Should I opt for the new plan, my cost per unit will drop to the 89.95 price. It appears that I will save approximately 41% from my current bills. Before I subscribe to this new service, I have to check to see how it will effect the private network that I am currently part of. This network includes several other companies we do business with. I agree with you that if the add ons for the first quarter approach the numbers you subscribe to, nextel will move easily thru the 32 level.
