Loral and Orbi are not really competitors. Both are different companies with a somewhat different focus. Both should do well, and already have. One common theme is they are both involved in space, satellites, and communications.
A portfolio diversified with companies in this field should do quite well and in a few years will see more consolidation than now. Other companies similarly poised to win in this sector are PanamSat (SPOT), Hughes Space and Comm. (GMH), Iridf, GSTRF, Alcatel (ALA, although they are huge, and space is just one portion), LMT, Teledistic (if it ever really happens, most feel it will be diferent than planned now to be economically feasible), and I am sure I missing a lot more.
This sector will be red hot for the next few years and you will find that a lot of Orbi shareholder are also invested in some of these other companies. |
