3/9,5:30pm edt Rocky Mtn. Internet Offers 7 Cents/Minute IP Telephony
Long Distance Service

ISP is First In Colorado to Offer Service to Customers

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 1998--Rocky Mountain Internet, Inc. (NASDAQ:
RMIIU - news, RMII - news, RMIIW - news) today announced it will begin offering long distance
phone service over the Internet to anywhere in the contiguous United States for 7 cents per minute.
The service will start April 1, 1998 and will be available to individuals and businesses in the
Denver metro area, Boulder and Colorado Springs.

''IP telephony is the wave of the future and we're thrilled to be the first ISP in Colorado to deliver
the lowest priced long distance service in the nation to our customers,'' said Doug Hanson,
president and CEO of Rocky Mountain Internet. ''This new service is only one of many that RMI
plans to launch in the next few weeks that's designed to enhance the company's breadth and depth of
product offerings to our customers.''

To use the service, customers dial a 10-digit number followed by their unique access code, which
RMI provides. Users can call anywhere in the contiguous United States, including both interstate
and intrastate calls, for 7 cents per minute, 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

To use the service, customers will pre-purchase phone time in amounts of $25, $35, $50 or $100.
Phone time can be bought from RMI's sales department or via a secure Web transaction on RMI's
home page. Customers can use a credit card to purchase their phone time.

''The web interface provides customers with a convenient and simple way for people to buy time,''
said Hanson. ''We will be encouraging on-line sign up because of its convenience for both the
customers and RMI.''

Additionally, RMI will waive set-up fees for any new customers that wish to sign up for a dial-up
account at the same time as signing up for IP telephony service. People interested in the service are
encouraged to call 1-800-864-4344, or visit RMI's web at rmi.net.

To ensure quality of phone service, RMI's customer calls will not be passed over the public
Internet, but transmitted via RMI's private network.

Although initially available to people calling from the Denver metropolitan area, as well as Boulder
and Colorado Springs, RMI expects to roll out the calling area to other cities quickly and then
eventually, nationwide.

Rocky Mountain Internet provides Internet access, Web development/hosting and co-location
services to clients throughout the Rocky Mountain region. The company's frame relay backbone is
the only Colorado-based network utilizing the industry-leading Cascade switching technology, with
broadband B- STDX 9000 switches strategically placed throughout Denver, Boulder and Colorado
Springs to provide full network redundancy. RMI's URL is rmi.net.
