Vocaltec(VOCLF) is a good (institutional) stock. But for the speculative investor it might be to pricey. VOCLF is an Israel based company which for most intents is controlled by Deutche Telecom and AT&T. In the last quarter of 1997 VOCLF has had a serious price run up and there was widespread distribution of stock at the $25-$30 level. Over the last quarter of 97 there was huge turnovers at the $25 to $30 level with probably $50 million of shares being sold.

VOCLF latest product is the Series 120 a DSP-based IP telephony gateway supporting 24 to 120 lines for corporate enterprise networks and independent carriers and service providers. The big hipe (all from VOCLF) is that their gateway is the first to use H323v2. Big deal! What has VOCLF done. They took Dialogic's DM3DSP and threw it in a case, along with their existing ($49.95) IP software. Not exactly brain surgery. And since ATT has announced their WorldVoice program (this can be found at att.net.hk, I would not expect too much from them in the near future.
