Here are my favorite Canadian oil stocks (all trade on TSE):

Ulster Petrolium ULP
Talisman Energy TLM
Denbury Resources DNR
Wascana Energy WE
Imperial Oil IMO

Ulster Petrolium: Cash flow has been growing at approx 20% p.a. and the company has low overheads, finding costs etc. I think that the company will make cash flow of $2 / share this year (it made $1 in the first 6 months), and my target price is $11 / share.

Denbury Resources: This was formerly Newscope petrolium. It has sold all its Canadian properties, and is now active in the Missisippi Delta area. Cash flow has been growing at a tremendous rate (it doubled last year). I like this company because it is well-managed and it gets a really high price for its natural gas, because (due to its location) it does not have the pipeline costs / capacity constraints that the Alberta companies have. If gas prices move ahead this winter (which I think they will), this company could benifit.

Talisman Energy: I bought this one because I liked its international exposure, particularly the North Sea and Indonesia. (I don't like its big debt however .... )

Wascana Energy: I like this one because it has lots of natural gas reserves.

Imperial Oil: Not too much action, but pays a good dividend, and its synthetic crude operations will probably pay of big in the long term. In the short term its refining operations will probably be a drag.

Is there anybody who is following any of these stocks who has any opinions about them?

I'm new to this discussion group, but I like what I see ...
