Michael: Finally!! So the Teledotcom article was correct:

Should we believe MOT?

....With the new circuits, ADSL modems will require five chips instead of 11, Motorola says. The new chips, which Motorola will introduce formally in mid-March ,...

...Motorola says the new ICs will be available commercially in June.

teledotcom.com

...The CopperGold ADSL Solution includes the highly-integrated transceiver (MC145650), the performance-optimizing and power-saving line driver (MC03AX1456), and a wide array of complementary components tailored for specific applications such as Ethernet transceivers (MC68160), ATM Cell Processors (MC92501), and many host control options (MPC860, MPC860SAR, MCX683xx, MC68EN302/360)...

I'm trying to recall the power requirements for the line driver. I think it WAS about 2-3 watts, but I'm not sure. Here's a discussion question... with a MOT G.LITE implementation, how much power savings would one see? The LU/Westell solution is looking for a G.LITE DMT solution to implement in the 5ESS platform..... until later.
