Hi dave s; I put DELL cause it has the highest P/S ratio
of the major box makers, about 4x CPQ's P/S. Thus I feel
it has the largest to lose in the event of a price war.

Now that low end PCs are not profitable for anybody, even
the low-end specialist producer CPQ, it is time to divvy
up the market for the profitable PCs. It would be
interesting to know what "hpeace" (ex-steve) has to say
about CPQ's plans. I think I'll do a search on it.
By the way, does anyone know why he changed his name?

About that DELL conference call. I suspect that business
has been strong - in terms of units sold. But the question
is what is happening and is going to happen to the Average
Sales Price.

Here's a link to a report a little more realistic than DELL's
conference call:
biz.yahoo.com
Basically it says CPQ is going to try to eat DELL's
lunch. Yep. You haven't actually seen the price war
yet. It starts soon though. And CPQ has preannounced
a non-profitable quarter, and that they intend to go
after market share. So good bye margins on high end
PCs.
