Bill c., how good to hear from you. I can't believe how silent the ADSL threads have been on the occasion of such a long awaited announcement. I guess all the Motorolian fans have died. I was wondering if you can answer a question I also asked Jim Wilkinson but have not yet received an answer. Is the transceiver chip Motorola is announcing different from the one expected? They are talking about a general purpose DSP:

<< Designed to offer high performance, long reach and the lowest power implementation available in a general purpose embedded DSP architecture (DSP56300), Motorola's CopperGold leapfrogs existing ADSL solutions.>>

I thought the Motorola chip was to be an ASIC. Wouldn't a general purpose DSP be somewhat similar to TI/Amati solution? I simply may misunderstand the nature of the chips involved. Do you have a clearer understanding?

Thanks,
Michael
