Cable & Wireless Japan To Begin New Intl Phone Service ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Tuesday, March 10, 1998 Source: Nikkei English News ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nikkei English News via NewsEdge Corporation : TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Cable & Wireless Japan CSL said Monday it received permission from Japan's Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications to provide international simple resale (ISR) long-distance phone service in Japan. The company said it will begin its 'Rainbow Call' international phone service Tuesday. The service will consist of a 'premium' plan that includes voice and fax services, a 'quick' plan that is a voice-only service and a pre-paid international calling card service. Calls to the U.S. from Japan on the premium plan will cost Y67 per minute regardless of the time of day while calls on the quick plan will be discounted a further 7% from the premium service, the company said. The company will offer around-the-clock multilingual customer support for its international telephone service.
