Dear Jane:
So much has been said about the relationship between the old and new covenant; that the old covenant was a teacher, a forerunner, a harsh schoolmaster, a glimpse of a new and perfect covenant never to be improved upon.
But just for a moment, how harsh was the old covenant. It provided, food, shelter, protection. It provided divine presence. It provided a system of laws and judgements for which to live by. It provided mercy, times of rest and relaxation, family responsibility, prosperity, vacations, retirement, a promised land given eternally. It provided healing, miracles, and peace within ones heart.
No wonder why some would bring back the Ark, and the symbol and meaning that it stood for. The awe of it. The power of it. The necessity of it.
But I weep as I think! What of the necessity of Christ. If The law could bring all the above benefits, what of the benefits of Christ. Did He die in vain!! Are the promises and the fulfillment of Christ passing the human race and God's own people by. Why ? Why ? Why?
Is the relationship with Christ that exclusive? Sure He said few would be saved !!
But I will never drop myself down to the level to stop trying. I promise God and man this day. What I see; I see. I cannot alter the photons of light that enter my eye. I know that it is the will of God that none should perish. However, ugly my circumstance, unlucky my lot, or pitiful my understanding; squeeze me Lord and make love come out.in Christ name I pray.....gregor |
