Vancouver Stock Exchange VSEShares issued 01899-12-30 close $0Tuesday Mar 10 1998The Financial Post reports in its Tuesday edition that the Vancouver Stock Exchange has made great strides in cleaning itself up. Reporter Peter Kennedy notes that a venture capital market such as the VSE is always going to attract what Angela Huxham calls "a certain element," and she should know. Having spent 11 years at the VSE, including three as director of market surveillance, Ms Huxham has dealt firsthand with a legion of hucksters, promoters and wayward stockbrokers. There is certainly never a dull moment, according to the friendly former corporate finance executive from Montreal. She made the move into surveillance just before the arrival of the exchange's president, Michael Johnson, who, along with Ms Huxham, is widely credited with cleaning up the VSE's seedy image. She says the VSE has zero tolerance for bad players. Ms Huxham will not discuss the image of an exchange that, some say, is still trying to shake off its "scam capital of the world" moniker.
