Rman,

I was also at the conference. I am a student at the GSB. Wes has come into to talk to several classes at the business school regarding the issues of growth in the medical device industry.

I agree that the growth could be slow, but as a long-term investor (which I am not sure if the portfolio's focus is the long-term), the market for heart surgery is HUGE-over $5B. Given their recent stock slump, this is a company with minimal downside risk and a huge market opportunity ahead.

Finally, Heartport has a very large R&D department. They are looking to apply their minimally-invasive-surgery techniques to other specialties. I don't think that the R&D potential is reflected in the stock price. If they are able to come up with something, we may see a substantial bump-up in their price near term.

Finally,,what was your interest in attending the conference? Also, what was your general impression of it. I was an organizer for it, and the feedback would be helpful. Also, my nickname is Roman pretty close to Rman

Take care,

Roman
