Hi All.
I called the Texas Lottery Commission today, who oversee/regulate the charity Bingo in that state. The woman I got connected with answered some of my recent questions about the number of non-electronic halls and just some miscellaneous stuff. She really wanted me to send my questions in writing, but then decided to answer. She warned her facts were estimates. She said the total number of halls in TX right now are approx 1800. Out of those, about half are currently electronic. I seem to remember sigmass estimating 500 out of 1000 in his projection, so that makes sense. I also asked if it took very long for a given hall to come on board with electronics (red tape / legal, etc), and she felt it basically could happen as fast as the systems take to install. I asked what their basic incentive was to move to electronics, and she said (which was surprising to me because I thought it was the money) that the customers demand it. The impression I got was that those halls are more popular, and electronics is definitely the trend and direction the rest have to take to keep up. I asked if the halls had to lay out lots of cash to get started with electronics and she mentioned the leasing option available to them to reduce start-up.

Sorry if most of this is old news or obvious, but it was all new to me.....

Kurt
