Hi Jack,

I've been thinking about the Acer thing..

This is Iomega's ace-in-the-hole. Nothing else I have seen has as
much potential. The key to this deal (and others like it) is this:
* Can they make money off these OEM drives?
* How big are these markets?

I mean, Acer claims they want to sell 500 million of these things.
Is this possible? How can Acer stand the factory cost of these ZIP
drives? (Iomega MUST be losing money with the ACER deal.)

The ZIP drive IS IT! No new product will be interesting to the marketplace
(besides the laptop ZIP..) Iomega already has the low end nailed. The
mid range flounders (nobody can sell a product here) and the high-end
has too many competitors.

Think about this: What product could come out that would have as much
splash as the ZIP? There are no other product niches to be exploited.

So whether you believe it or not, ZIP fortunes will make or break
Iomega. When the ZIP fades (will it?) Iomega will become just
another storage company, trading at 1x sales and a P/E of 15. Until
then, who knows?
