Message to everyone:
Regarding this excellent thread, I feel that we should all treat each other with respect and kindness, regardless of any differences in views. Sometimes people like to trash those who they feel are of inferior opinion. It isn't pretty when people put the needs of their egos in front of other people's dignity. But I have to say, this is definitely a happier and friendlier thread than most that I have seen. It will take only a small amount of effort from everyone to keep it that way.

Often written words can be received with a different sentiment than was intended by the author. Prior to posting, it's wise for writers to reread their messages as if they were the recipient, and then make any changes if the message conveys something that wasn't intended.

When reading other people's messages, I think it's best to give the poster the benefit of doubt in interpreting his/her emotional state and let trivial personality traits be.

If circumstances should arise when it is appropriate to send a message that might be offensive, it's best to send it directly to that person privately with as much tact as possible. Nobody likes being criticized in public.
