There has been some interesting discussion over in the Fool concerning digital cameras. Perhaps something in this area?

You're outlook reminds me of something that an IBM executive said in the late '40's or early 50's - It was something to the effect that while electronic computing machines were interesting, he couldn't imagine a world wide demand for them much beyond five or six.

Of course, he was looking at things as they were at that point in time rather than towards what direction things were headed in.

One of the reasons that I am long in IO besides the fact that they are the de facto leader in this emerging area, but also because of all the ancillary developments taking place world wide in technology and usage. IO has to do its part to develop its products and implement its business plan, but there is a whole world of activity taking place in creating the "information revolution."

I'm out here in the boon docks and I still see numerous examples of it making a real difference in people's lives. One quick example that has probably never been discussed here is livestock marketing. Digitized information is having a huge impact on it. A few years ago folks around here argued about whether or not there was a need for computers in the school. Now, if you're not selling your cows over the internet you're losing money.

The point is that the pond in which IO is trying to become one of the big fishes is rapidly expanding. It started as a small puddle with a few special inhabitants. But the clouds have opened, the down pour is on, the puddle became a pond and is well on its way to bigger things. And in there is a young shark called iomega.

I may be all wet on this, its late and I'm going to bed.
