Misonix, Inc. Announces $1.6 Million Follow-On Order From
United States Surgical Corporation for Ultrasonic Cutting System
Components
FARMINGDALE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 1998--Misonix, Inc. (Nasdaq: MSON - news)
today announced that the Company has received a follow-on order from United States Surgical Corporation
(NYSE: USS - news) for ultrasonic generators and transducers, which are the main components of USS's
AutoSonix(a) cutting device. The AutoSonix(a) system uses high-frequency sound waves to coagulate and divide
tissue in both open and laparoscopic surgery. The order totals approximately $1.6 million and delivery of the
components is expected to be completed in Misonix, Inc.'s fiscal first quarter 1999, ending September 30, 1998.
In October 1996, Misonix, Inc. entered into an exclusive license agreement with USS covering the further
development and commercialization of the Company's medical technology relating to ultrasonic cutting. The
license agreement gives USS exclusive worldwide marketing and sales rights to this technology.
Dr. Joseph Librizzi, President and Chief Executive Officer of Misonix, Inc., said, ''We are pleased to receive this
