Computer Learning charged by Illinois
FAIRFAX, Va., March 10 (Reuters) - Computer Learning Centers Inc said Tuesday the Illinois Attorney General has served the company a complaint that charges it violated the state's Private Business and Vocational School Act and the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.
The lawsuit is confined only to the company's Schaumburg, Ill., center and does not affect any other center, including the one in Chicago, the company said in a statement. A company spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
''We believe that CLC Schaumburg, like all of our Learning Centers, has operated and continues to operate in accordance with state and federal regulatory standards and in the best practices of our industry,'' said Computer's president, Reid Bechtle, in a statement. ''We intend to vigorously defend ourselves against these allegations.''
Computer Learning provides information and computer-related education and training at 25 centers.
The company's stock, which was temporarily halted Tuesday, lost 9-1/4 to close at 27-5/8. |
