Thanks, Your right... Pay 'N Pak... got my chain store names swapped, still Ernst was depressing.....

Looked back on the thread for a good reference:
seattletimes.com

excerpts:
There's little doubt where Takata's heart lies. "I started on the sales floor, and I don't forget that. That's where it happens," said Takata, 47, who recently also became chief executive officer.

With Eagle founder and chairman David Heerensperger, 61, cutting back on his day-to-day work with the Renton-based home-improvement chain, Takata is moving into the public spotlight not only as CEO of one of the most prominent retail companies in the Northwest but also as one of only a handful of Asian American chief executives in the region.

Takata and Heerensperger first crossed paths in 1986 when Heerensperger was searching for someone to help him with merchandising for Pay 'N Pak, the home-improvement chain he headed. "I asked the suppliers who was up-and-coming. His name kept popping up," said Heerensperger. Takata went to work for Pay 'N Pak as senior vice president of merchandising in July 1986.

But Heerensperger retired in 1989 after Pay 'N Pak was bought out by Citicorp Venture Capital. Retirement proved short-lived. Pay 'N Pak's new owners weren't taking care of his former employees to his liking - the chain eventually folded - and he saw an opportunity to build a new chain starting with a clean slate.
