New Metro One Division Offers Rapid-Retrieval Database Software Solutions
Database Software Division to Promote High-Performance Software Solutions For Easy Publication, Access and Searching of Databases
FAIRPORT, New York, March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Metro One Telecommunications, Inc. (Nasdaq: MTON - news), a leading provider of enhanced directory assistance (EDA) to the telecommunications industry, today announced the formation of its new Database Software Division. The division will have responsibility for developing and marketing db.ONE(TM), a high-performance database software solutions package that is easily embedded into VAR (value-added-reseller) applications. db.ONE will support simple, accurate and extremely rapid retrieval of information from large, structured textual databases. db.ONE works in concert, as an indexer for industry standard relational databases or it can stand alone, to permit easy publication, access and searching of databases for Internet/intranet users.

''The formation of the Database Software Division creates new development and marketing opportunities for us,'' said Mike McCourt, vice president, Database Software Division. ''We are already in the process of releasing the new db.ONE software package which underscores our commitment to providing easy-to-use, rapid retrieval database search solutions for business enterprises that require rapid access to mission-critical data.''

The new db.ONE software package consists of three main components: an authoring system to index and compress the data; a powerful full text search engine that supports Boolean, wildcarding, numeric and phonetic searches, and a multi-threaded, client/server component for multiple users with Internet/intranet access. db.ONE is constructed to provide subsecond data retrieval solutions for Internet directories and catalogs, Internet Classifieds, and VAR applications that require high-speed, full-text searches.

db.ONE is a suite of software solutions that provide fast, feature-rich access to fielded textual data in the Internet and intranet environments. Fully scalable, db.ONE is available for Windows NT(R) and Solaris(R). Metro One uses db.ONE as a component of its operator services platform in providing subsecond access to its enhanced directory information system at multiple call centers. db.ONE is also currently being used by several Internet directory providers.
