Gee, that is a stunning thought - to get a royalty override on any new drug discovered as a result of testing! I like that one if it will fly. John, I haven't yet read the Rumor Mill - I generally await my email copy. Obviously, the market could be seeing insider reaction to some news of settlement. Your scenario of spinning off the assets except for the license to BMG would sure need a lot of IRS clearances and I think they would be pretty sticky. And it would also mean selling the license to BMG so further royalties would not be due. Dont think that will happen.
The high thruput deals simply show that the rest of Igen can function well, and it is a delusion to feel that BMG is the tail which wags the dog named Igen. It gives muscle to back demand that the deal be adhered to as originally put together. They go far toward convincing me that Roche will operate the license, will pay 9% royalties on income, and will probably listen carefully to input from Igen as to how to arrange the hardware.
And I believe the market is reflecting the perception that Igen has important new technology which is establishing a new standard in test equipment that will eventually back Abbott into a corner.
Yes, I have looked at a one day chart on each days trading. It seemed to me that the buying pattern changed yesterday, but probably has not ceased. Volume is still high, so someone is still buying a lot. But where the price has jumped up early in the a.m. and late in the day, letting the price sag during the mid-day, it seemed to me that the buying was done in the middle of the day, yesterday. Obviously, that change would be fashioned to confuse any who wanted to profit from the pattern.
