While I agree about the other factors, in all honesty thus far the boycott has been ineffective. Conservatives are paper tigers when it comes to the pop culture, they love to bitch, but when the little brat starts whining that he or she wants a toy, they cave in. The state of Texas pension funds are talking about taking a heap of money out of Disney, Sony and Time Warner. We'll see if it happens. I think the larger danger is that slowly people are realizing that Disney is nothing but Time Warner with a few theme parks. Who in the hell would green light some of the movies they've made lately?

BTW, I'm not buying the argument that families will update their collections to DVD. Way too expensive for the payoff.
