In reading your post and Lisa's post I am reminded of the story of the wise old rabbi who was renowned for his incisive thinking. It seems that two ardent philosophers were to presented their diametrically opposed views to the old man. When the first had finished the rabbi said "You're right". Then he listened to the second and said "You're right.". At that point a student of the rabbi said, "Rabbi, you must be mistaken. They both can't be right." The rabbi thought for a minute and said "You're right."
