Hello Jane,

From reading of many of your messages, I've got the feeling that you're not the biggest fan of praise bands. I've read some of your reasons for thinking this way and understand how you feel, even though the churches I go to generally have praise bands.

When a song is very jazzy or has a good beat, I sometimes sing just for the joy of singing instead of really worshiping Jesus. This is not how worship is supposed to be in my opinion.

On the other hand when I sing normal hymns without a praise band, I'm not really focusing on worshipping God either because I am concentrating on pronouncing the words correctly and figuring out the logistics of the song.

I've therefore come to the conclusion that I'm more in favor of the contemporary praise bands because they have a fewer selection of songs to sing. I can therefore pick up on them easier in order to focus on God more throughout my singing. Also, the words in these songs sometimes express my love for Jesus in a better way than some of the hymns.

Don't get me wrong though. There are some very good hymns that express my love, but churches rarely play the ones I know.

I'm sorry if I've gone into a tangent, but I'm just wondering what you think about all of the above.

God's love,

Grant
