There were a couple of stocks halted Mon, CLCX and ANDW. CLCX had news available that said there was a lawsuit and it started dumping in a free fall so I assume that was why it was halted. ANDW had no apparent news before the close and there were people who bought it thinking it might bounce, (Luckily I resisted) and then it was halted. Both stocks opened up much lower this AM so a lot of people lost a bunch of money, it seems halting the stock caused a stronger reaction. There was speculation in the #daytraders chat group that word might have leaked about ANDW so that was why it was halted.

Today I was watching another stock take a major dump, LHSPF but after yesterday was hesitant to get in for fear of another halt.

My question is this, how often are stocks halted? What are some of the reasons for this? Is there some percentage or unusual volume that will cause NASDAQ to halt a stock? I tend to play dumpers for the bounce but after yesterday am a little shell shocked since 2 that I was considering were halted.

There's nothing that someone can do when it's halted but wait and hope, it there? I'll bet there was a fair amount of sleep lost over these 2 also.

I'm not mentioning stock names to hype them, since it's after the fact now, just using them for examples.
