BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 1998--Boca Research, Inc. (NASDAQ: BOCI - news) today announced it plans to ship the Boca 56K Tidalwave, a V.90-compliant modem, the week of March 23. While many competitors have chosen to ship 56 Kbps modems built to the new International Telecommunication Union (ITU) V.90 standard earlier, Boca is holding shipment to assure the quality of its product.

According to Larry Light, Boca's Vice President of Engineering, additional developmental time will enable quality testing including V.90 interoperability testing with 56K central site equipment from Ascend, 3Com and others. ''Boca's modems are being extensively tested to ensure the highest standard of easy installation and configuration, including end-user beta testing,'' he noted. ''We're diagnosing and improving the performance of our V.90 modems on a daily basis. Final verification of modem performance and connectivity as well as Windows 95, 98 and Windows NT certification is also being performed.''
