Re: "Let AMD/NSN-Cyrix fight it out, at major losses I might add, in the no profit home market. " There is a big difference between no profit and LOSSES. AMD and Cyrix are generating LOSSES. Re: "Thank god Intel has Slot 1, and Slot 2 and that AMD/Cyrix must reverse engineer and try to clone it.." The performance of these platforms will get a big boost starting April 15 with the 350 MHz and 400 MHz Slot 1 Deschutes roll out with a 100 MHz 440BX chip set. Around mid year, the Deschutes Slot 2 with full speed L2 cache and 100 MHz 450NX chip set will debut giving another major boost in performance - for higher priced machines - workstations, multiple CPU servers, etc. Intel will market the low cost/low priced Celeron to maintain market share at the low end - and make decent profits - and reap the entire high end's profits, as you noted, without real competition.
