Mike:

Yes we are the "LSI Anonymous" addicts here.

On the PC thing consider how fast the following have dropped:

DRAM down somewhere around 90+% the last 2 years.
Hard drives down somewhere around 40-50% or more I think last 12 months.
CPUs powerful to run top notch software at $150 from around $500 a little while ago.

The key is that what has happened is that software is no longer leading the hardware guys! So now we can do a heck of a lot with the current versions of the software and hardware that has plummeted. Net result today: we can do the leading edge software with dirt cheap hardware. No wonder everyone likes their under $1,000 PCs. To wit the hardware stocks are suffering, the software companies are relatively unscathed.

[In days of old, in rapid succession, the software went from DOS to Windows 3.1 to Windows95 to multimedia and now we are stuck. Hardware companies had fat margins because they were trying to keep up with the leading edge software demands and people would pay up for the latest hardware because the previous versions of hardware would not be able to run the current useful software.]
