Let's review.

You asked when the last time GTW had a "good" quarter. I responded by saying last quarter (i.e. Q4 1997). IMO, having record revenue, record earnings, record EPS, and beating WS expectations by 31% qualifies as "good". You disagree, which is fine since "good" is subjective. WS agrees with me since the stock went up sharply following the Q4 earnings release. You then go on to say Q4 only looked good because of write-offs (largely associated with the ALR acquisition) which happened in Q3. You are not able to explain how these write-off, ligit or not, have any affect on Q4's record demand (i.e. record shipments and record revenue). Now you are taking about 1997 vs 1996 annual comparisons. What in the world does that have to do with your original question or our discussion. You are being incoherent.

BTW, I'm glad you consider a 25% drop a "banner" year. Personally, I think GTW had a disappointing 1997, especially considering that DELL grew more than 80% and CPQ grew nearly 40%.
