One favor you could be a very valuable contributor in terms of gaging the sentiment in Asia etc. from down under.

Yes I think that the easiest way to see that the US is an attractive investment destination is from outside. In a sense you are "just another country" (albeit a big and powerful one!) from the Australian standpoint, so the US market can easily be compared with Europe Japan and SE Asia. Like I said, the choice between cronyism and and corruption (SE Asia and Japan) welfare state (Europe) and world-beating technology domination with a free and transparent market (USA) is a pretty easy choice for me. That's why I think that the overvaluation may not go away in a hurry. The USA is the only game in town.

I forget which edition of Malkiel's book I read. I was actually more impressed with Lynch's One up On Wall Street He says a few crazy things, but I like his strong theme that even if your short-term timing is bad, equities are a very good long-term wealth builder.
