Thread.....I have just read the January, 1998 issue of Solid State Technology---article entitled "Impact of Low Temperature Polysilicon on the AMLCD Market". (I think, referred by Toby on this thread a few weeks ago.) The only part I really understood is the estimated cost differential between this type display and amorphous silicon at commercial production volumes; the smaller the display, the greater cost advantage to LTPSi. Down in the TFS-size (say, 4-inch and smaller) display markets, the advantage is serious, and probably will be decision-influencing. Maybe 40%--60% cheaper. These displays can also be mfgd in older generation, otherwise obsolete, semiconductor plants, a fact that is sure to cause excess supply eventually.

I really do not understand the technology aspects of this stuff, but the authors are in Austin, and I will meet with them later this month for an explanation, and a prognosis for this part of TFS' business, re these circumstances. Probably cost me $750 for the meeting, but, hey....... anything for the thread !!!

(The reality is, I cannot continue having this much money invested in a company and industry, neither of which I fully understand. Since I do not want to lighten my position, there is no choice but to learn the un-learnable !!!)
