<<<<ICG sets 5.9 cents a minute long distance rate

Englewood, Colo.-based ICG Communications Inc. announced Wednesday
it will offer nationwide long distance service, through the
Internet, at a price of 5.9 cents a minute. The company said its
recent acquisition of Netcom On-Line, a national Internet service
provider, gives it network facilities permitting IP telephony and
data services in 166 cities by the end of the year. The company
said its IP service will cover 90 percent of the U.S. long
distance market. The 5.9 cents a minute price applies to calls
originating and terminating in markets where the company has
gateways. These rates apply to both residential and business
customers. J. Shelby Bryan, president and CEO said "ICG's IP
service will be of the highest quality and will be bundled with
our local dial tone, Internet and data services in many areas."
