I don't know where you get your information from, but I think you are not correct. C is not the only language to run on UNIX boxes. Where I work, we have Fortran and COBOL compilers on UNIX boxes. We also use Perl, which is not dependent on C. Also, UNIX can be used as a language itself. UNIX shell scripts are used extensively to perform all kinds of tasks without making references to C.
