There were also some earlier sales by less senior people, but the key guys sold, in effect, nothing. "Cooking the books" accidentally could happen if someone responsible for taking out inventory costs of sales, who was maybe new on the job, did it incorrectly. I have felt that mgmt was too lean here and lack of adequate supervision is one of the typical consequences.
