a little more on this subject: AMGEN (60-3/16, up 5-3/16 @ 10:05am ET) reported that the federal Health Care Financing Administration has agreed to ease Medicare reimbursement restrictions for Epogen, one of the company's biggest-selling products. Epogen is used to boost red-blood cell levels in kidney dialysis patients. The trade publication Health News Daily reported late Wednesday that HCFA, which administers Medicare, has cleared the way for partial reimbursement of Epogen at doses that cause patients to exceed hematocrit levels of 36%.
