Thanks for the info Fledermaus. Where did it come from? I would like to read more about it.

Kind of discouraging because Motorola/Iridium will probably be hurt by spending so much money on a strictly TDMA system. Must also be embarassing to them to admit CDMA may have been a better choice. Now 2/3rds of their satellites are up for Iridium and they can't go back. I'm kind of discouraged if the CDMA news is accurate.

So is original Iridium never going to amount to nothing more than an expensive voice network in the sky that may not have many users or may not be able to even do low bandwidth data?

Maybe my view is distorted because of all the Loral/Globalstar cheerleaders going crazy now.
