Take it for what it's worth. This was posted on the Yahoo AFFX thread today by ExAFFXer Mar 12 1998 5:06PM EST
[I hate to burst your bubble] but AFFX will see 20 before it sees 50. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that they will NEVER see 50, it might, but only IF they solve the current problems with their genechip technology. I used to work for AFFX (for the past 2 years). I just got a new job at a larger company where I am doing related work. I have sold all of my AFFX stock, so now I feel I can tell you guys what is actually happening:
I can tell you guys that the genechip is having some MAJOR problems. There are problems with the chip/oligo hybridization process, scanning, software, and software/hardware interactions. Before I left, I ran a test comparing the genechip with allele-specific PCR (ASP). ASP beet the socks off of the genechip. There was only about a 50% concordance between the two. There is no way in hell this will work in the marketplace. The concordance HAS to be 95% or better! There are many other problems, but I just thought I would share that one with you. Take this as a fair warning. I left the company because I feared the future of the company. Other people are doing this as well. Lots of people on the inside are selling their stock at these levels because they also know what is coming.
Good luck to you all. I am sure I will be severely criticized by others on this thread because I have bad news. Don't let the "kill the messenger" mentality get to you. Think about what I have said. Look into it. You will find the truth. Sorry I didn't share this with you guys before, but I didn't want to adversely affect my stock price until I had sold it all. That is selfish... I know, and I apologize. |
