* After market close, NOVELL INC said that it named Dennis Raney
as interim chief financial officer following the resignation of
James Tolonen as senior vice president and chief financial
officer. Raney's appointment is effective immediately. To help
ensure a smooth transition, Tolonen will remain with Novell
through the end of the company's second fiscal quarter on April
30, 1998, the company said in a statement. Tolonen plans to take
time off before deciding on his next career move, Novell said.
Raney has held chief financial officer positions at General Magic,
California Microwave and most recently QAD Inc, the company said.
