Irv,

Yes, Taps is a very sad tune! I have heard it in many situations. It is played daily on military installations around the globe as the flag goes down, and all must stop, face the flag and salute. It is also played at burials. The flag which draped the coffin at a burial is then folded and presented to the next of kin with these words by the officer in charge "on behalf of a grateful nation". Sadly, I have been that officer! I wish to never do it again!

Very sad tune, that taps!

Sad, Jack
