roly, I have the suspicion that the fear of the Asian troubles
is being deliberately fanned to keep US economic growth, wage
increases and stock market gains in check. This way we can't
blame the government or Mr Greenspan for a slowdown. No, there is
no conspiracy. Most financial journalists will repeat what AG
and other respected figures tell them. We then read the same
dire warnings in many different publications and conclude
"it must be so". I do not believe there are many original
thinkers among financial journalists.
(the same is true for every other profession)

I don't deny that there are problems, but their extent is
exaggerated. What we are seeing now is the opposite of
irrational exuberance.
