From Investors Business Daily 3/13/98: AMGEN gapped up 3 3/8 to 58 3/8 on volume of 17.2 million shares, vs. its usual 1.3 million. It was the Nasdaq's most active issue. Salomon Smith Barney said the federal government's relaxation of Medicaid reimbursement guidelines for Epogen will likely lift sales of the drug to double-digit growth rates. The drug is used to boost the red blood cell count for patients on kidney dialysis.
