new to si i am a novacare employee many changes going on in medicare. these include new salary equivalency rates established by HCFA that go into effect april 1st . also the way nursing homes will be reumbursed will be more like the hospital based DRG system where efficiency equals profit. NOVACARE is likely to be one of the winners as they will likely increase the number of nursing home contracts as a large company they can offer more services . On the downside starting in Jan 99 medicare payments will be capped at $1500/yr for outpatient therapy. This cap is being aggressively fought by AARP.
