Cable is real... no doubt. The fact that you've had a cable modem is the exception - not the rule. Where are you? Bay Area? Seattle? Although Cablemodems have been around they are still a ways away from being a ubiqutous technology.

Even so, let's assume they are. At 6 - 20Mbps per user how are the SP's going to keep up with the demand for bandwidth? We should all note that wire is not the issue here...it's the switching/routing equipment that is the bottleneck. Good news for the networkers.

We should all hope that bandwidth sucking applications and big bandwidth services such as cable and DSL take off soon. The sooner the better!!! Either way, the future looks bright!
