Did anyone see this one? Cisco has purchased Precept Software a company that Westell was cooperating with to provide IP/TV.

....Precept Software and Westell have cooperated to provide IP/TV, using bandwidth-efficient IP Multicast technology combined with the speed of ADSL to deliver real-time video programming to thousands of users simultaneously. This application was selected for demonstration in the InteropNet Applications Forum area at the main entrance of Networld+Interop. The demonstration consists of Precept's IP/TV server connected to an Ethernet hub and then to Westell's FlexCap2 ADSL system via a 10BaseT interface. Standard copper pair is used to connect the central office ADSL to the customer premise ADSL. The IP/TV viewer at the customer premise is supported from the remote ADSL via a 10BaseT interface. The IP/TV system, communicating over ADSL, provides an economical means of disseminating information to thousands of users simultaneously....

Cisco Acquires Second Vendor This Week

By Scott Tiazkun, Computer Reseller News <Picture>Cisco released Wednesday the terms of an agreement to acquire Precept Software.

Under the terms of the acquisition, between 1.15 million and 1.35 million shares of Cisco common stock will be exchanged for all outstanding shares and options of Precept Software, in Palo Alto, Calif. Based upon Cisco's March 11 closing price of $62.63, the stock exchanged would have a value of approximately $84 million....
