After reading the posts in this board, I can not believe people are still trying to hang on to rtec--- this is a dead company. Sun has already move to Ultra platform for about a year and the new system is getting cheaper every quater. I am with University of Texas and there are many old Sun workstations in the university, but very, very few of them got upgraded, people simply buy new systems -- very much like the case of PC. It appears to me that with every month passing, RTEC will be weaker because buying Ultrasparc is more and more apealing. If I have $5000 and Sparcstation 5, I would rather buy a top of the line Pentium pro to run Solaris 2.5 and can not see any reason to upgrade the Sparcstation 5.
