Warren, I spoke with Guy Bailey, the chief scientist at SEXI and he confirmed that SEXI does not have and will not file for a patent for this "technology". Actually it is false to say that it is a "technology" because SEXI has not come up with any new technology. What they have done is combined two existing technologies in a way that has not been done before. What makes this possible is the invention of a new chip by a Canadian company called Innovision. Innovision is the company with the new "technology". This new chip allows you to combine analog technology (the type that your TV is) and digital technolgoy (the type that your computer is). Thus giving you television quality video which is not possible with digital technology alone.

Since this chip is a fairly new invention, SEXI is one of the first companies if not the only company to make use of it in the video conferencing area. The concept though is very simple and it won't take long for the competition to duplicate it, since I'm 99% sure that it cannot be patented. I would say that if the competition chooses to they could have the same product developed within 1 to 2 years. That's why it is so crucial that the company clean up its act immediately and start to secure major orders quickly.
