Thanks JR,
Was beginning to think that no one wanted to talk about it.
Excerpted from Reuters on Yahoo: He will be responsible for leading Apple's global operations organization which is responsible for worldwide procurement, supply chain management, manufacturing and distribution. ...
At Compaq, Cook was vice president of corporate materials, responsible for procuring and managing all of Compaq's product inventory.
Before joining Compaq, Cook was the chief operating officer of the reseller division of Intelligent Electronics.
Cook also spent 12 years with International Business Machines Corp, most recently as director of North American fulfillment where he led manufacturing and distribution for the IBM PC Co in North and Latin America.
Sounds like he's well qualified for the position as described. Just one caveat: Didn't Compaq just report an expected shortfall due to inventory buildup?
I'm sure Compaq's problems are more complex than that, and I can't help but think that his knowledge of Compaq's operations will entertain in those closed door meetings, but since I am such an optimist I have learned to worry about my lack of concern.
Overall the news about Tim Cook does look very positive for Apple. I just wonder why the headlines didn't read in true newsspeak, "Compaq Exec Jumps Chip to Job for Apples"
