Don,

I don't know where you get your info from. NZ is not even self sufficient in oil in a land over just 3.2 million people. They have very few oil wells at all. Not even enough natural gas to run a small fraction of their cars in South Island on CNG. They have to use imported propane. The Pinedale Anticline area in Wyoming has an estimated 159 trillion cu ft of gas compared to 2 trillion cu ft. in the Taranaki Basin in NZ. By the way the Taranaki Basin in NZ is a small sized area compared to the Green River area in Wyoming, and all the sediments in NZ are teritiary (geological young) and deposited in very deep synclinal basins with little time to 'cook' the meager carbon deposited in these deep geosynclinal troughs. There has been much money spend on surveys, seismic and drilling with little to show for it. NZ will never be a large scale hydrocarbon reservoir.

Throw your money away in NZ for hydrocarbons, if you want to. Good Luck!!!

Bruce
