Hi,
I've been following this thread as a lurker for the past few weeks, and felt that it was time to register (at least for the free trial period) just to get a response in.
Just so you know my background... I am a game developer. I also work for a GTIS subsidiary; I want to make that clear so I don't get accused of conflict of interest. I don't own any GTIS stock nor have any stock options. I am *not* here to represent, defend, attack, or provide information on GTIS; I am pretty low on the totem pole.
>>>On one hand you've been talking up how wonderful GT's prospects are for the future, but on the other hand, when it comes to the Gathering, the underlying message seems to be, "Gathering is going to do some damage, and 3dRealms is going to help. Underpaid developers are gonna get our just rewards, and if GT loses profits over it, too bad."<<<
Scott has claimed that his company purchased shares of GTIS at $11, so it's logical to assume that he wants these shares to go up.
On the other hand, Scott is *also* a board member of Gathering of developers, so he also stands to gain by having that organization take titles away from other publishers (including GTIS.)
There's clearly a conflict of interest here, a rather disturbing one I think. I would not claim that Scott's true purpose here is one motivated purely by self-interest, both to push up the share price of GTIS so that he and his company can profit and to hype Gathering of Developers (especially it ever went public, in which case Scott would certainly stand to profit.) But I can certainly see why one would believe that.
Please remember that Scott is not a GTIS employee; he is to GTIS what an author would be to a publisher. He cannot speak for the organization as a whole. |
